Christian Pulisic Spotlight

Chelsea fans have only seen a few glimpses of American superstar Christian Pulisic this year. The last time he was seen wearing a Chelsea first team shirt was back on New Years Day when when Chelsea drew 1-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion. Young Pulisic only played 66 minutes at the Amex due to an adductor issue he’s been struggling with since joining Chelsea. he was also featured in a behind-closed-doors game for the U23s just before the suspension of the football season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The young American has waited a lot longer than his other teammates to play under Frank Lampard once again. Pulisic has failed to been featured in the first team due to injury and he is eager to recapture the form that amazed so many fans a few months ago.

Manager Frank Lampard was no short of praise when asked about his opinion of the young American. “He is a big signing for us and has a big potential for us. The question for him is that he has to adapt to a different league. But what I have seen is that he has a real good attitude, a willingness to listen to information from myself and the staff and had some really good moments tonight and shown that.

"I am really pleased. He is 20 so we have to remember that he is young, but huge potential and I think that he is going to be a big player for us. I am happy to work with him and I want him to improve."

Pulisic’s highlights for Chelsea so far are when he recorded his first Premier League hat trick against Burnley in a fantastic 4-2 win. Along with his hattrick at Burnley, Pulisic recorded an assist in an important 1-0 win over Ajax in the Champions League.

However, Pulisic was not able to maintain his excellent form in the final month of 2019 as Chelsea‘a form followed too. It is not unusual for a new, young player in the Premier League to see their form fluctuate as they continue throughout the season, it is almost expected at points. Taking time to adapt to the Premier League as a standout signing is extremely hard and it isn’t the first time players have not lived up to their ability in their first season.

Not to worry, there is a lot more to come from the young American and hopefully he will make a huge difference for Chelsea when football returns.

The return of the Premier League season is expected to be set for June 19 or June 26.
