FA Cup Semifinal bound

Chelsea has progressed to the semifinal of the Emirates FA Cup after beating Leicester City 1-0 at the King Power Stadium. The game started poorly with the Blues failing to make any promising attacking moves as they were pressed extremely hard by Brendan Rogers's side. The best chance for the Foxes came from Jamie Vardy as he got in behind center-backs Zouma and Rudiger but poorly struck the ball with his left foot as Caballero watched it bounce wide of the goal.

During the first half drinks break, manager Frank Lampard was seen having strong words with his lagging Chelsea side as he tried to put some energy into his Chelsea team. The drinks break saw the Blues work with more urgency in the final third with Pulisic blasting a shot right on goal only for Schmeichel to react brilliantly and push the ball over the net. The American has been Chelsea's best option going forward since football returned with him scoring against Aston Villa and Manchester City.

As the first half progressed, many Chelsea fans on social media noted that young star Billy Gilmour was not living up to the standards they saw after his world-class performance against Liverpool in the FA Cup earlier this season. The young nineteen-year-old was having a hard time controlling the midfield as has done in the past but showed how determined he was to win the ball back whenever he could. It's not a surprise for a player of Gilmour's age to have poor games so fans should relax a little as he is a player of the highest quality.

With the second half starting, Frank Lampard made three changes with Ross Barkley, Mateo Kovacic, and Cesar Azpilicueta coming on to strengthen the squad. This was the eighth time in Chelsea's history that they've made three substitutions at half time. The last occasion was in 2009 against Blackburn in the League Cup.

Lampard's substitutions did exactly what he wanted with Ross Barkley scoring an excellent goal off of a brilliant cross from Willian. Barkley was able to tap the ball in and past Schmeichel to make it 1-0 in the sixty-third minute for the Blues.

Chelsea finished the game well after a rocky start and managed to make it to the FA Cup semifinal. So far this century, Chelsea have reached FA Cup Finals in the following years: 2000, 2002, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2018.
