Giroud to depart in January
World Cup winning striker Olivier Giroud, has decided to leave Chelsea in January as he is looking for more playing time to be in the France EURO2021 squad this summer. Didier Deschamps spoke earlier this week about the 34-year-old and how he needs to change his situation by the time that March comes around. France outlet Téléfoot Chaine has reported that Marseille and Bourdeaux are monitoring the situation "vigilantly" as Giroud looks for another club. The French striker is looking for another major European club like Chelsea which will allow him regular playing time.
None of this news is surprising as Giroud has seen limited minutes this season with the arrival of Timor Werner and Tammy Abraham taking his place off the bench in several games. Giroud has been an excellent servant to the club since arriving from Arsenal in 2018, winning both the FA Cup and Europa League.
