Jorginho's Juventus Transfer?
Jorginho joined Chelsea from Napoli ahead of the 2018/19 season, the central midfielder's role under former manager Maurizio Sarri had divided opinions among fans since his move. With Sarri moving N'Golo Kante to a much more forward role than the fans were used to, it seemed as if Jorginho had not earned his spot in the midfield and was rather forced into it by his manager. Fans were quite frustrated with this at the beginning of the season but it later showed that having two star midfielders, in Kante and Jorginho, was not as much as problem as they had thought later on in the season. With Kante suffering an illness and then a nagging injury throughout the season, Chelsea saw Ruben Loftus-Cheek take the more attack midfielder role allowing Jorginho to play as the midfielding pivot.
As the summer transfer window is open, rumors have been swirling about Sarri wanting to reunite with his former Napoli and Chelsea midfielder Jorginho. While Juventus has not made a formal offer, it has been talked about in Italy that Chelsea will sell Jorginho for 35 million Euros and have named Juventus as suitors. That report from Calciomercato has been swirling among the football world for a while now and Jorginho's agent, Joao Santos has done little to anything about calming the rumors.
“I don’t know whether Juve want Jorginho or not, as he has three years left on his Chelsea contract. We’ll see…” Santos told Tuttomercatoweb.
“He is a professional, so if an important club in Italy calls, then why not?”
These remarks are not comforting for Chelsea fans that have recently come to liking the Italian midfielder and have even said he should be a candidate for the Chelsea captaincy. However, with the recent rise of Billy Gilmour, it could be enough to see Jorginho leave Stamford Bridge and reunite with his former manager.
