Liverpool drop interest in Werner as Chelsea become front runners for his signature
According to several Tier 1 sources, Liverpool have pulled out of talks to sign Timo Werner after refusing to pay his £50 million release clause.
Chelsea are now favorites to sign Werner with Liverpool dropping out as they have not been hit as hard financially as Liverpool. Frank Lampard is rumored to be interested in signing an outside back, a center back, a winger, and a forward during the upcoming transfer window. Fitting his needs for another forward at Stamford Bridge would be Werner who is having a fantastic 2019/20 season scoring 24 goals and having 7 assists for RB Leipzig.
Along with Chelsea’s interest to land the German’s signature are Real Madrid and Manchester United, meanwhile Chelsea are now the front runners
Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff recently revealed that Werner’s price will not drop when asked about selling the star forward.
“It won’t get any cheaper. We will not sell a player below value if he is under contract for more than a year," he said.
Chelsea have a lot of cash to spend from the selling of Eden Hazard last summer along with not being able to spend during the transfer ban.
Chelsea fans should be prepared for a big summer of signings that will inevitably boost their chances of more trophies in the future
