Welcome to Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel!

The day has come a lot sooner than most Chelsea and football fans would have liked with the departure of Frank Lampard from Stamford Bridge. The Chelsea legend served as head coach of Chelsea for less than 19 months as he was relieved of his duties yesterday. The Chelsea hierarchy saw that the best option for the club was to part ways with Chelsea's highest goalscorer in hopes to reach Champions League football next season.

Frank Lampard's replacement is none other than German coach, Thomas Tuchel. The German tactician was relieved of his duties last month at Paris Saint-Germain after falling out with the French Champions board. Before his spell in the French capital, Tuchel served as head coach of Borussia Dortmund and earlier in his career at Mainz.

At Chelsea, Tuchel will be reunited with Christian Pulisic and Thiago Silva who he coached during his time at Dortmund and Paris respectively.

Tuchel has signed an 18-month contract with the possibility of an extension has said: 'I would like to thank Chelsea FC for their confidence in me and my staff. We all have the greatest respect for Frank Lampard's work and the legacy he created at Chelsea. At the same time, I cannot wait to meet my new team and compete in the most exciting league in football. I am grateful to now be part of the Chelsea family - it feels amazing!'

Chelsea Director, Marina Granovskaia added: 'It is never easy to change Head Coach in the middle of the season but we are very happy to secure one of Europe's best coaches in Thomas Tuchel. There is still much to play for and much to achieve, this season and beyond. We welcome Thomas to the Club.'

Tuchel arrived at Cobham on Tuesday evening to take on his first Chelsea training session after presenting a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival in the UK. He will be present in the dugout for tomorrow's game against Wolves at Stamford Bridge.

We wish Thomas all of the success at club and hope he is able to continue on the legacy Frank Lampard started in changing the culture at Chelsea.

Welcome Thomas Tuchel!
